The Utah chapter donates a hunt to make a very deserving young mans dream come true.

Some days are just better than others, and this turned out to be one of the best. My son works with a dedicated fire fighter named Casey Naef. His 15 year old son Kolton has been diagnosed with Dushenne Muscular Dystrophy. This summer SCI paid for a wild boar hunt to fulfill a dream of this young man. Everything about the hunt could not have gone better. Pete Moesser helped me build a trailer with a rotating platform for a wheel chair and a gun turret, with a hydraulic trigger mechanism. Pete even had to machine a second scope mount, so we not only had a scope for Kolton to look threw, but a second one for someone to help him line up the cross hairs. This was to be its maiden voyage pulled behind a Yamaha Rhino.

Several of Kolton's family members were able to join in including his grandpa Bob, his dad Casey, 4 year old Trapper, and 11 year old Colten. My two son's Jeff, & Chazz and my granddaughter Harlie, grandson Cody, and one of his friends along with Pete, a guide and myself. We all loaded on the trailer or in the Rhino in search of a nice wild boar.

The weather had been over 100 degrees for 2 week. But this day it was overcast and we even had a few very welcome light showers. It took about 2 hours to locate a hog. Just about the time that I could see Kolton was getting a little discouraged, all the action started. Grandpa Bob spotted a very nice hog and we had to hurry and get the trailer in position, rotate the wheel chair, get the rifle lined up and adjusted for a perfect shot. Every one knew what to do and it went flawless. Kolton made a clean one shot kill in seconds. The trailer had worked out just as planned.

Casey said that Kolton usually does not put 4 words together in a week. But today he said "that was really fun" I don't know if Dad, Grandpa, or Kolton had a bigger more proud smile. But I know I could not stop smiling for several days. This hunting thing just brings families together in a great way. For Kolton activities like this lets him forget his disabilities and just have fun with the boys.

Thanks Pete and thank you so much SCI for all that you do for hunters.
