2010 SCI Utah Chapter Humanitarian Project

This year SCI Utah Chapter cooperated with Dick and Elaine Jorgenson of Hi Mountain Enterprises near Peoa, Utah to host our Wounded Warrior project. The ranch is located in the scenic mountains east of Oakley, where they manage a herd of more than 125 buffalo. For 2009 we selected Daniel Gubler as our wounded warrior participant. Daniel was serving in the Anbar province of Iraq in Nov. of 2005 with the 2/222 FABN out of Utah (Utah National Guard) when he was severely injured by an IED blast. He lost his left arm and the use of his right eye among other injuries. Daniel has always been an avid sportsman and really enjoys hunting. Using his Thompson Contender pistol chambered in .325 WSM, Custom-built by a close friend, Daniel harvested a beautiful five-year old bull buffalo. This was Daniels first hunt since being injured, and was extremely excited about this opportunity. Daniel enjoyed the day with the group of SCI Utah Chapter Board, family members and the Jorgenson’s.

Our 2009 Humanitarian Project resulted in hundreds of pounds of prime buffalo meat that was processed and donated to the Utah Food Bank through the SCI Sportsmen Against Hunter Program.
