SCI Utah Chapter 2006 Youth
Activities
The Utah Chapter is very happy
to announce our 2006 Youth Activities. On March 11 we will
sponsor our Youth Hunt, this year at the River Bend Trophy Ranch
near Corrine, Utah. This should be very exciting. Earlier
several Chapter Board members hunted here and harvested Three
large trophy hogs. In March each of the lucky five Youths will
Have the opportunity to harvest a trophy wild sheep or goat or
hog Based on availability at that time. Our 2005 Youth Hunt was
a Tremendous success with six youths each harvesting a wild
sheep or goat At the Homestead Ranch in Redmond, Utah.
Our second youth activity is
to sponsor 2 young hunters to the Indian Head Ranch Apprentice
Hunter Camp in Del Rio, Texas. This will be a wonderful
opportunity for two young people to experience The world of
hunting by educating themselves. The seven days of Activities
include the opportunity to:
Earn their Hunting
Safety Certification from the Texas Parks And Wildlife
Department;
Expand their knowledge
of gun safety, gun care & cleaning Plus improve shooting skills;
Learn practical camp
craft, hunting and valuable survival skills;
Enjoy an overnight
stay in the wilderness, conservation history, Ecological
principles and,
Harvest one wildlife
management exotic doe.
The partnership between SCI
and Indian Head Ranch is designed to Provide a mentored hunting
experience for youth conducted by professional Staff who are
passionate about our hunting heritage. Campers will be
instructed and tested on Hunter Safety and Responsibility, and
be given opportunities to develop hunting and outdoor recreation
skills.
